Fiction Short Story

Houdini was a great man but he wasn't always honest. Before he was famous and his name was just Dini, he made the mistake of not paying back some money he borrowed from a rich man. Though he was an amazing escape artist even he could not keep from getting captured forever. A bounty hunter, named Bob Fett found him. Fett wasn't sure who he was so he nicely asked Dini, "Hey what's your name?" Dini, being terrified out of his wits, blurted, "Um who's Dini?" The bounty hunter, disappointed that he had the wrong man(because he thought Dini had said Houdini), stomped off cursing his bad luck. After calming down, Dini realized what had happened and from that day forward referred to himself as Houdini to remember the day he made the luckiest escape of all time.

Detective Jacks

Detective Jacks is another good but simple magic trick. 1st look at the bottom card while you shuffle the cards and continue to shuffle but keep the bottom card the same. 2nd have someone pick a card and memorize the card then put it on top. 3rd give the deck to someone in the crowd and have them cut the deck and place the bottom half on the top half. Now you know the bottom card is on top of the persons card. 4th look through the deck and find 2 jacks take them out and inconspicuously cut the deck at their card so its at the bottom. 5th face the bottom of the deck towards yourself and place the jacks facing the crowed on both sides ( make half the jack that's on your side stick out so the crowd can see it and you can place your thumb partially on their card). 6th toss the deck to your other hand but keep your thumb and index finger on the jacks and the person's card so they stay in your first hand. Then show the crowd that their card is in between the jacks!

Simple Magic Card Trick!

I have started doing some magic as a hobby, but a lot of card tricks require time or preparation.  So, when younger kids (about 4 to 8 or more if you're good) ask me for some quick magic this trick really comes in handy. 1st shuffle your deck for the audience. 2nd fan the cards face down and let someone take and memorize a card. 3rd this is the most important part, pick up the top half of the deck and tell the person to put their card on the top of the bottom half.  But, as they do, glance at the bottom card of the half you picked up, then replace the half on top. 4th now you know that the card you looked at is on top of the person's card so just look through the deck until you find it! You can even shuffle the cards before finding theirs if you can keep from mixing the middle cards.
